As soon as I connected the H-4 to my computer all of the LEDs came on so I plugged in my devices. I'm using it to connect an HP printer and an APC UPS to my main computer. I've only had the D-Link DUB H-4 for about a week. Both of them work just fine, so I dont plan on using the adapter unless I connect a device which needs power. Another reviewer noted that the AC adapter didn't seem to be necessary for the hub to function. I can definitely second that. The printer and the UPS are hardly data intensive devices so I cant comment on the speed. Overall I'm pleased and would recommend the DUB H-4.
I bought this to run external hard drives and needed a high speed connection. This hub has worked perfectly and was a snap in install.I'm running this on a home computer and not a laptop.Highly recommended if you're going to connect this to a desktop computer and need fast, usb 2 connections.
D-Link DUB-H4 High Speed USB 2.0 4-Port Hub The D-Link four-port high speed USB hub arrived right on time. It came in good condition was exactly as promised. A quick plug-and-play and my USB 2.0 connection problems were solved.
What a great 4 port external hub. The choice of the Windows 95 driver as a selection by DLink is wrong, use the other one on your screen insert Windows 98 or ME disk then load it.Restart your computer to complete the install. Under Device Manager youwill see it as "Generic USB Hub" below Universal serial bus controller. This hub needs its own 5VDC power adapter supplied to run the firmware onboard. This productdocumentation does not say it is compatible with Windows 98 or ME. If only everything worked this well. Thishub is I guarantee it.Install the hub with the computer off and the hub powered up. My friends and I had problems with everyPCI card hub regardless of manufacturer or where made, on any computer asthey make them so cheap and must not test for compatibility. When rebooting you'll see on your screen "USB Device(s): Hub" under NVRAM.
Boot up andthe new hardware is found as Generic USB Hub. The correct driver install is on your Windows disk, Generic USB Device. It is 100% compatible with USB 1.1 and 2.0 and needs no software. What a wonderful device. Throw everyPCI hub card you have in the garbage and get this great external hub.
I've utilized the product for several weeks, including copying data between multiple USB drives. I have not had any issues with bandwidth or reliability. Works as advertised.
